ABOUT RESPAWN

The basic thought behind RESPAWN is to create a relaxed and unconstrained forum where game developers, trade visitors and students can connect and exchange ideas.

This innovative conference and networking concept was welcomed enthusiastically by more than 500 visitors at its premiere in 2013. Since then, RESPAWN has grown every year, attracting 1500 attendees in 2016. Rather than confining speakers and their audiences to closed rooms, the presentations are held on lecture platforms spread out across the venue. This gives RESPAWN visitors the freedom to spontaneously decide, which talks and panel discussions they want to follow. They can either go directly there or simply use the provided wireless headsets to switch to the audio feed of the presentation they find most interesting at any given time.

The conference's topics range from Creative, Game Design, Business and Tech to Culture/Communications and Storytelling. RESPAWN 2017 will feature workshops, lectures and panel discussions as well as an Indie Game Summit, a Newcomer Summit, plus a new format, the Late Night Talks.

On August 20 and 21, RESPAWN 2017 will be fully integrated into devcom, the new international developer conference.

What is devcom?

devcom is a high quality international developer conference that debuts in advance of and during gamescom 2017 (22 to 26 August). devcom 2017 will run from 20 to 24 August at the Congress Center East, Level 4 of the Cologne fair (Koelnmesse).

devcom orients itself in terms of content to gamescom and encompasses conferences, summits, workshops and networking events. Consisting of a classic conference component with top themes of the developer scene and top international speakers, devcom represents a clear further development: in terms of content, the new developer conference is closely interlocked with gamescom and completely integrated into the gamescom week.

From 22 to 24 August, devcom will be flanked by gamescom business keynotes and gamescom public keynotes. The business keynotes, held by the most important minds of the international games and technology industry, as well as the biggest influencers, are oriented to the international trade public of gamescom. The public keynotes are set up as high-profile lectures from well-known personalities of the games and media branch, and are open for private visitors.

More information will soon be disclosed at http://www.devcom.global.
